Have you heard of PLR? If not, you're probably wondering, “what is PLR content?”

It's an acronym that stands for Private Label Rights. I hadn't heard of it either until my good friend and accountability buddy, Jan, introduced me to it. And let me tell you- it is a GAME CHANGER for this busy business mom!

PLR is a term that encompasses many different types of content. It can be digital products, blog posts, emails, e-books, courses, and more. The idea behind the work is to allow online and other business owners to provide valuable content with very little effort. PLR takes many forms but they all have one thing in common – it's easy for you to create something powerful without having to spend hours researching, writing, and creating.

Let's chat about how you can use PLR to make creating content for your business easy- even if you're cobbling together blog posts from your phone while in the school pick-up line.

This post is part of a series about PLR. Be sure to check out the entire series:

What is PLR content anyway?

So before we dive into all the ways using PLR can make your business life easier, let's take a minute to clearly define exactly what PLR means. The term describes an industry that creates content with permission to use it as your own. Basically, a creator of intellectual material sells rights in the work to someone else who can then use it however they please according to language laid out by terms of the purchase agreement.

Ok, I know- that's a lot of jargon-y speak to say this: you can quickly create a new piece of content, a product, etc without starting off staring at a blank screen. You can use the PLR content as a jumping-off point and then add your own branding, words, images, and some basic formatting.

PLR content can be:

  • Blog posts
  • Emails
  • eBooks (PDFs)
  • Digital products
  • Courses
  • …and more!

Each piece of content is created in a general way, sticking to a theme or niche which can be used to target and attract clients and customers or to provide continuous information to engage your audience and keep their interest – which is important for creating that know, like, and trust factor.

You can add your branding information and edit the content to best suit your needs. From start to finish, PLR is an easy way to provide value to your customers and make running your business easier and more profitable.

Why should you use PLR content?

Websites are more than just goods and services. While the goal may be to land a client, sell a product, or get someone into your funnel, the bigger goal is to keep them coming back. PLR can provide content that adds value to the goods and services you offer.

More than the sale, providing ongoing information and solving problems elevates the value you bring to the table. It gives people a reason to come back and not forget about you.

PLR is cheaper and easier than traditional publishing contracts. The content can be reused as many times as needed, so there's no need to spend large amounts of time or money on creating something that may only be used once.

How can PLR help your business?

If you're anything like me, you're already spread super thin as an online business owner who is also raising kids and trying to keep everything afloat. It's hard to find time to create blog posts, write emails and newsletters, and come up with new content for the never-ending curiosity of people surfing the net. Not to mention creating unique and useful products for your audience that solve their needs.
